Those who know me well know I’m a bit of a perfectionist. I can get great feedback after a performance, but if it didn’t feel completely right to me, it sticks in my head. But when everything clicks…that feeling is unmatched. And this post is about just that.
This weekend, I performed for a group of Swiss friends visiting Warsaw for a bachelor party. The plan? A surprise for the groom, who loves magic. I appeared as a sorcerer while they were out on a “dwarf hunt” by the Vistula River and cast an eternal love spell. It went well, but the wind made things a bit unpredictable with the costume and interfered with the speech.
What was meant to be a one-off turned into something more. They enjoyed it so much that we staged a second scene. The groom and his crew “found” me doing sorcery at the Temple of Sibyl in Łazienki Królewskie. I then proceeded to reinforce the spell after their wild adventures in the city. This time it was flawless. I did not only nail the script that I had received the day before, but also took advantage of my improv skills to add more “magic” to it. Though unexpected, some crowd gathered around us while I performed. Indeed, it was magical!
